After working in both journalism and public relations, Liz Lawson merged her professional experience with her love of music, and began Deus Ex Machina PR in Athens, Georgia. Her goal of helping struggling indie bands to overcome the seemingly insurmountable odds that exist in today's music market came easy to her. From the humble beginnings in Athens, Liz grew the company into a high energy firm, now based in New York City, representing some of the best up-and-coming indie artists from across the country.
“Two and a half years after starting Deus Ex Machina Publicity, my business had grown to a place where I felt a professional, accessible website was something that was necessary to continue that growth... I approached Elemental Blend because... I knew that they had the creative ability to understand and implement a web design that melded an edgy, hip design with a structured, professional feel - not an easy accomplishment. With only a little guidance, the guys at Elemental Blend created an amazing site... which has already landed me new clients, and truly has taken my business to the next level.”

The DEM PR project was a blast to work on from a design perspective. After seeing the work we did with The Diamond Center, a band DEM PR represents, Liz knew she wanted something non-traditional in terms of layout and design, and she knew she wanted us to do it. We had received so many compliments on the Diamond Center site, we had a lot to live up to if we wanted to meet Liz's expectations. Using a lot of different styles and design elements to create a cobbled together look while still keeping the site well organized was tricky but I think we accomplished it well.
