Volunteer Opportunities

VSA arts of Texas offers a number of fun and engaging volunteer opportunities. Whether you want to learn about working with people with disabilities, or simply like participating in art activities, we can help you find a volunteer position right for you.

Audio Description Volunteers

Various local theaters (ongoing opportunity)
Volunteers are needed to describe cultural arts events to people who are blind or visually impaired. If you have a way with words and like to share your love of the arts with others, this is the opportunity for you! Get in free to movies, plays, and art events while giving back to your community. Most events are evenings and weekends. A three-hour training session and mentorship process is required.

Spring Shuffle: Mixin' It Up Assistants

Volunteer for one session as a class assistant or intern or for the entire week as a general supervisor. These classes will include movement, music, theatre arts, and visual arts and will be for middle school and high school kids with and without disabilities.

Art in the Park “Friends Around the World” Volunteers

Join us at our annual festival for AISD school children and the public held at McBeth Recreation Center in Zilker Park. Groups are needed to provide art activity booths for the kids to participate in. Musicians, dancers, and performing artists are invited to perform at the outdoor stage; or, just volunteer to assist with one of the existing activities.

The 14th Annual Inclusion Works! Conference hosted by the Arc of the Capital Area brings in top experts in inclusive education from across the nation for four-days of sharing the latest research, information and practical strategies. Help man the VSA arts of Texas booth featuring watercolor and calligraphy artwork and artist demonstration by Michael Hannon or volunteer for the children's art activity during the Parent Power Hour/Kids Activity on Friday, March 2nd.
