“I am an above-knee amputee and have had some problems with depression for many years. I worked as a newspaper photojournalist until a few years ago when I had to quit because I had to stop standing and walking so much. I have been drawing with pencils as long as I can remember but I have been painting only about six months. I started studying pastel painting first and now am studying watercolor painting also. I enjoy both mediums but I prefer watercolors because it's easier for me to be creative and less literal than when painting with pastels. I like to paint “loose” and watercolors allow me to work this way. I still paint with pastels occasionally but most of my work is in watercolors. I have a dream of living in a very small town in South Texas and making watercolor paintings of the beautiful people and culture of that area near the Mexican border. I also like painting beach scenes. I hope to be able to support myself with my painting.”
