Scholarships
The Magic Camp has a scholarship program to provide tuition assistance to those campers needing it. Our goal is to not let a lack of money keep someone who is truly interested from attending our camp. If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution to our scholarship fund, please contact Kent Cummins, the Camp Director, at (512) 288-1596.
To apply for a scholarship, you need to submit a registration form (available here) and a letter (email is fine) which explains three things:
- Why do you need the scholarship?
We don't need tax forms or doctors' letters; a simple statement will suffice. Some of the most common reasons involve single parenting, unusual medical expenses, etc. - How much do you need?
Most people can pay at least some portion of the tuition. For example, if you can pay half of the tuition, then the scholarship fund can help two children instead of just one. However, we want you to be honest in asking for what you really need. - Why do you think your child would particularly benefit from attending The Kent Cummins Magic Camp?
We do not offer scholarships for before and after camp care. We want to make our scholarships available to those children who will benefit the most from our specific programs, as opposed to simply a need for day care. When you send in your application, it helps if you can send in at least a portion of the required deposit. However, do not let the lack of funds for the deposit delay your request. we understand that there are financial concerns, or you wouldn't be requesting a scholarship in the first place. We answer scholarship requests as soon as we can, normally within two weeks of receiving them.
